Environment & Peace Building in the Middle East, SIS Graduate Student Presentation, October 15, 2019



Students and alumni from the The SIS Summer 2019 Graduate Practicum, “Environmental Peacebuilding in the Middle East,” presented their research findings, “Water-Food-Energy Nexus Cooperation and Peacebuilding in the Middle East” with faculty advisors Dr. Eric Abitbol and Dr. Ken Conca. Ten members of the practicum team––Drew Brewr, Tess Dornfeld, Nathan Erwin, Aleah Holt, Miranda Laurion, Kelsey Negus, Kyla Peterson, Clara Summers, Hannah Tayson and Kamil Williams––reported on the joint project between the Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group and the Arava Institute in using date farming to improve relations between Israelis and Palestinians. The SIS Global Environmental Policy program, The SIS Practicum Program, the SIS Office of International Programs at American University and The Center for Israel Studies all co-sponsored this program.
